My Aunt, the Talented Seamstress

I believe I had just turned 7 years of age. I had been asked to be a part of Aunt Ellen’s wedding. I vividly remember going to the Welter’s home with my mom, Carol and brother, Doug, the week before the wedding. There Aunt Kathy, took my measurements and had me try on the beautifully ornate, floral cotton dress I was to wear for the wedding. Cousin Sarah and I wore matching dresses. They had these fabulous, delicate buttons all the way down the front, and a sash tie in the back. I was very shy then, and didn’t know how to talk to adults, even though Aunt Kathy was very loving towards me. I just remember how serious she was about her craftsmanship and how well that dress was put together. She was a classy and loving aunt.
